August 12th the Drug Enforcment Administration denied a petition to initiate rulemaking proceedings to reschedule marijuana which is currently a Schedule 1 controlled substance.
What happened next is shocking! Thousands took to Twitter voicing their displeasure with the ruling and some even went so far as to implicate the alcohol industry in a conspiracy to undermine the effort to legalize marijuana. That’s ludicrous!
Here’s the truth. People in America are lighting up, injecting and ingesting to escape reality in various ways; including smoking weed, abusing alcohol, snorting meth, injecting heroine and ingesting prescription meds.
Why?
The answer is simple. People are stressed out, overworked, underpaid, under appreciated and unloved. They suffer from mental and emotional fatigue due to years of parental neglect, abuse from various sources, circumstances beyond their control and a whole host of societal pressures. They are depressed and in emotional pain and they simply don’t want to feel the reality of their inner struggles anymore.
That’s why millions in America do whatever it takes to numb the pain and escape the reality of their lives.
They turn to drugs, alcohol and/or prescription meds but these substances only provide temporary relief. This begins the vicious cycle of substance abuse which deadens the users senses and destroys their minds and bodies.
Check out the following statistics that prove my point.
- In 2013, an estimated 24.6 million Americans aged 12 or older—9.4 percent of the population—had used an illicit drug in the past month.
- 52 Million people living in the U.S. over the age of 12 have used prescription medication non-medically in their lifetime.
- 6.1 Million people living in the U.S. have used prescription drugs non-medically in the past month.
- The U.S. Is 5% of the worlds population and consumes 75% of the worlds prescription drugs.
The Solution
Something has to change folks, we can’t continue like this. It’s time we returned to our Creator’s love and guidance. You might think I’ve gone off the deep end but it wasn’t too long ago that our founding fathers forged this new world by the hope and strength they derived directly from their faith in God through the person and work of Jesus Christ. Whether we like it or not the Christian faith is seminal to America’s founding and history.
That means the way of life you enjoy as an American is in large part due to these faith-filled revolutionaries.
Case in point the following words written in 1778 by Benjamin Rush, signer of the Declaration of Independence and ratifier of the U.S. Constitution.
Christianity is the only true and perfect religion, and that in proportion as mankind adopts its principles and obeys its precepts, they will be wise and happy.
Oh happiness, happiness, happiness! That’s what we’re searching for! But, true happiness can’t be found in a bottle, a pipe or needle.
America stop the insanity and drop to your knees in recognition of your Creator, God and Savior! Only then will you truly be happy, content and in need of nothing to alter your mind and change your reality.
King David wrote in the 23rd Psalm verse 1.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Jesus said to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount recorded in Matthew Chapter 5 verse 1.
Blessed (Happy) are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Closer Than You Think
Happiness is closer than you think. In fact, right now you can ask God to forgive you of all you’ve done wrong and to make you whole. Then you will posses lasting happiness and contentment. I’m praying for you America…
