San Diego’s Best Espresso Bars

When I’m not reviewing loan packages, in loan committee or visiting a client you can find me recharging my battery at one of my favorite espresso bars. Lucky for me new ones are popping up all over. From north coastal to downtown San Diego and in between I can always find a fix.

Join me sometime!

Elixir Espresso Bar – North County Fair

Website | Instagram

Elixir Espresso Bar is by far my favorite place to enjoy espresso in San Diego. The classically trained baristas always deliver directly to my taste buds a rich, nutty, chocolaty espresso experience that is sure to bring a smile to your face. Add in the soothing ambiance and it’s the perfect time out from a business day or getaway with your significant other on the weekend. Check out their newest location at La Plaza on Girard in downtown La Jolla. You’ll be glad you did!

Lofty Coffee – Encinitas Moonlight Beach

Website | Instagram

If the Del Mar Race Track is where the surf meets the turf then Lofty Coffee is where the surf meets the espresso. Though a little inconsistent at times when it’s right on you will enjoy a delicious espresso experience that is perfectly matched to their locations cool San Diego surf vibe. It’s hard to choose between the Moonlight Beach and South Cedros locations. Righteous!

Cafe Bassam – Bankers Hill

Facebook | Instagram

Cafe Bassam is eclectic, perfectly located in Banker’s Hill and always ready to serve up delicious espresso treats. My favorite is the double shot espresso served in a shot glass. My advice when visiting Cafe Bassam is that you bring a good book, don’t make any plans and enjoy!

Cafe Calabria – North Park

Website | Instagram

Cafe Calabria is delicious and perfectly located in the mix of North Park’s spicy urban vibe. Your friends will think your a cultural phenomena if you take them here.

Cafe Chloe – East Village Downtown

Website | Instagram

If you’re in the East Village of downtown San Diego then you need to pay a visit to Cafe Chloe. And just like Brick & Bell you can enjoy both lunch and an espresso at the top of their game. Yes, I will have a double shot please!

Brick & Bell Cafe – Downtown La Jolla

Website | Instagram

Brick & Bell Cafe is not technically an espresso bar but I can tell you first hand they serve up an exquisite lunch and espresso combo. I can also tell you this is a rare find and one that I’m glad I did! Oh and I just love the locations old world earthy ambiance which is neatly tucked in La Jolla’s downtown village district.

Papallecco – Hillcrest, Kensington, Downtown San Diego, Del Mar Highlands

Website | Instagram

I love Papallecco for many reasons. Mostly because I feel like I’m in Italy every time I arrive. The Hillcrest location has a wonderful happy hour menu that is the perfect place to relax after a hard day. Kensignton has excuisuite wood fired pizza and every location boasts Yummy gelato. Oh yeah, did I mention the espresso is dynamite too!
