Michael Morell, Former acting CIA Director, penned an Op-Ed in the New York Times August 5th, 2016 stating, “On Nov. 8, I will vote for Hillary Clinton. Between now and then, I will do everything I can to ensure that she is elected as our 45th president.”
At first blush this seems to be a huge blow to Donald Trump’s campaign. A self-professed independent and former senior level intelligence analyst to George W. Bush emphatically confessing he’s voting for Hillary Clinton.
Upon further investigation it’s clear that Morell isn’t independent and more importantly he’s been wrong before.
Morell was the Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. During this attack four Americans were murdered; Ambassador Stevens, Information Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA operatives, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former Navy SEALs.
Therefore Morell is highly invested, as he has stated, in Hillary becoming President to eliminate the possibility of President Donald Trump opening up old wounds for him and his comrades.
Further, Morell has repeatedly claimed there was no “stand down” order given to the global response security team tasked with protecting American assets in Benghazi which directly contradicts their accounts.
Who are you going to believe? A lifetime Washington D.C. bureaucrat who was two oceans away during the attacks or the men on the ground who sacrificed their own lives in defense of freedom?
I believe the accounts of Kris (“Tanto”) Paronto, Mark (“Oz”) Geist, and John (“Tig”) Tiegen for the following reasons:
- They were there and fought the battle
- They risked their own lives and saved others
- They lost members of their own team in defense of American assets
- They have no political aspirations
- They have nothing to gain or lose by telling the truth
Nice try Michael Morell, the American people recognize political partisanship when they see it!
